SPM preparation part 2

(continue from part 1)

Mathematics and Additional Mathematics

Since I was 5 years old, Maths has been my interest all along. This helps me a lot to score in every of my maths (and add maths) exams, quizzes etc. However, I do have some tips for students who may not have that much interest in maths but are required to sit in maths exam (since maths is a mandatory subject in our national education system). My recommendation is to try doing very easy questions on the chapter. There are many steps to be taken to solve any question, what matters is making the right step. Let's take calculus (differentiation & integration) as an example.

To differentiate a variable say y=2x2
The steps needed would be
  1. Identify the degree of power of x (this case is 2)
  2. Bring the power in front ( y=2(2x2) )
  3. Write the new power of x with one degree less y'=4x1
  4. Done!

Now try this
y=3x2
y=4x2

The answers are y'=6x and y'=8x

Next, remember practice makes perfect. Do past year questions, questions from reference books and exercise given by the teacher. Keep grinding yourself with maths questions, soon you will be able to understand the demand of the questions.

For extra tips, if you want to just pass the add. maths exam, I recommend you to familiar yourself with these super-duper extra cheesy extremely easy topics:

  • Functions
  • Quadratic equations & functions
  • Sim. equations
  • Indices and Logarithms
  • Circular measure
  • Linear Law
  • Probability
